Home Decor Hell: I Need Nate

I'm kind of in a home decor hell. I'm a serial procrastinator, and this has affected my shopping and decorating ability as well. I was walking around my house earlier and it hit me...we've been in our house FOUR years. WOW. When we moved in here four years ago, I remember looking around at my blank palette of a house, thinking, okay...I'll transition our urban loft decor into some type of transitional, home-y feel in no time. Six months, tops!

Then, life, work, and baby happened.

What am I staring at now? Well, I still have blank walls, even less accessories, and mix-matched crap all over the place. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE our house. I never imagined our "starter home" to be as nice as the home we have, and I think it's put together pretty well for the most part. I just feel that I'm shaming it out with the sub-par decor flow.

I. need. Nate.

Then I can't decide the direction I want to go...I love modern, but I like personal and comfy, as well. The only home brand/store that I love EVERYTHING in, is Pottery Barn. But, our budget has tightened a tad since I've been staying home, so I haven't seriously looked into new stuff in a while.

But, momma's gettin' a BIG raise come August! Hellooo cash monaaay!

So, I thought it would be helpful to make a "to buy" list...kind of like people make "to do" lists. I don't make lists at all, but I know I should. I just can't keep up with them. #attentionissues Maybe I can post this list and reference it when I decide I want to buy something for the house. Some of this may never happen, but hey, high expectations equal high results, right?

-pottery barn seabury couch and loveseat...LOVE

-pottery barn or crate and barrel coffee/end tables...preferable not matching...liking the whole mix-up decor thing ol' Nate suggests...I'm loving the trunk idea, like this one?

-two large candles to go inside my glass things on the kitchen table
-new formal dining set...pottery barn's round table maybe? nice table but casu chairs? hmm

-wine fridge custom made into our bar
-hardwood flooring for our foyer (I know, ching ching, but I want it)
-new curtains for our giant master bedroom windows...the light, linen, beachy white kind
-new guest room "shabby chic" furniture (but, if we have baby #2, this will be a 2nd nursery, so maybe I should just leave it?)
-new giant clock for the foyer (I have one but, just not feeling it anymore)

-frames to hang pics up in our blank hallway
-a large, black "D" to add to our little family picture collage in our foyer, and maybe some others to spell something out on a shelf or mantle...I love the giant letter thing

-I need to move my piano from my mom's house to our office
-a new slightly modern lamp for the foyer table...I kind of like this one from PB, but I'm not sure if it screams "I just murdered a deer"...

-2 bar stools from Pier One...totally dig these for our kitchen bar...I'm all about mixing up textures
-a back door that has the blinds made into the glass...I'm done with the pull-up shade business
-round "reading" table that matches our bedroom suite, to go in our "sitting area" of our master bedroom
-a gold/tan colored chaise lounge to set next to the above mentioned "reading" table

Yeeah, that's a lot of stuff. Hopefully I get our starter house "complete" before we upgrade...or Kyle graduates from college.

Nate...call me.

Fabulous Friends and Fantastic Finds: Northpark Day

This is my last week just relaxing at home...back to grad school next week. I've been loving my three weeks off. It's much more fun to blog than write a thesis. I think this ecard says it all...

This past Saturday I hit up Northpark with a couple of awesome gals. Lisa moved here a few months ago from PA/NYC, and thank goodness she did! She's TOO much fun. We met through a mommy's group and instantly clicked. We have a fab time hanging out every week! Plus, our sons are both complete lady killers. This is her trying on hats in Loft...

Lisa is hiding her "disco ball" eyelids underneath this pompom hat...post Bobbi Brown counter.

If you haven't checked out Lisa's blogtwitterpinterest, something, you're way behind. She's even given me a full tutorial on how to use it #what? few twitter pointers lately and I'm actually "tweeting" now to the 42 people masses. You should follow me, so I can follow you, and then we're all winners. YAY!

Emily is another sweet venting buddy friend and she cracks me up. Seriously. I met her through her hubby a few months back and we're neighbors too! I think I knew we'd be great friends from her bachelorette party. She had me at three rum and diets and an enthusiastic "I'll cut that b*tch!" on the corner of 7th and Main. Aww. :) I know we'll be friends 'till the end.

Em hard at work. (She'll cut you.)

Back to the mall...so I haven't been to a mall on a weekend in oh, 15 months. The mall is somewhere I take my toddler on a weekday morning so we can stroll around in his stroller, sans crowds. Holy shoppers...Saturdays are crazy! Nordstrom was off the hook! We hit up the Bobbi Brown counter, and while we're looking at mascara, the girl offers to glam up my eyes with some mascara, gel liner, shadow, and about 32 things for dark eye circles. Yesss! Okay maybe not 32, but this chick made my eyes look more alive than they have in 18 sleepless months.

the AWESOME concealer kit (a cream and powder) and
the no smudge (waterproof) mascara...LOVE IT ALL

this corrector goes on before the concealer kit...it's AMAZING and totally erases your
dark circles...it's darker than it looks in the pic, and takes just a dab...AWESOME

I was so excited about my little eye glam-out I wanted to throw on a prom dress and hit up a high school gym. This make-up is worth its weight in gold. Seriously. I'm a Bobbi Brown fan for life now...mad props to Lisa for her savvy cosmetic advice! I love this stuff so much I'm heading back to Sephora soon (YES they carry Bobbi Brown now!) and getting the gel eyeliner and a couple shadows.

When I tweeted about how much I'm loving Bobbi Brown's stuff on twitter, she RETWEETED me! Lisa and I were overly excited about this...check it out!

Awesome!!!! So glad Lisa gave me that twitter tutorial last week LOL.

Another new product I'm UBER pumped about are these alpha beta facial glow pads by Dr. Dennis Gross! O M G. Why didn't I see these or hear about these before now!? I haaate how pale my face looks, especially when I bleach my hair glow-in-the-dark blonde. I hate bronzer even more, because it clogs the hell out of my pores. Even when I tan outside I spf 50 my face to death because I'm scared of wrinkles and more freckles. Just use these on your face after it's all nice and clean, and you get an awesome tannish glow for days! Plus they're packed with vitamin d! These wipes are seriously the best thing everrrrrr. Bye bye bronzing powder!

Em was so excited about these wipes she sent this at 10:00 last night lol...

P.S. to Em: Lisa told me today you can order them online or get them at Sephora! WIN!

So, all around the girl Northpark day on Saturday was awesome. We all bought some makeup, we got our smell on at Bath and Body Works, hit up MAC, Loft and had some fun girl convo. We even chowed down some Red Mango after lunch, where the cashier guy was overly enthusiastic about their product, voted "best fro-yo in Dallas". Hilarious. I need more days like that!

Here's to awesome friends and fun times!
